Position Summary
The Church Janitor is a part-time employee of Nechako Community Church (NCC) responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the church facility. By ensuring that church spaces are well cared for and ready for worship services, ministry activities, community events, and facility rentals, the Church Janitor plays an important supporting role in the ministry of NCC.
The Church Janitor is appointed by the Elders Board and is accountable to the Board through the Church Moderator, who serves as the direct supervisor for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all church facilities on a regular weekly basis, including sanctuary, offices, and common areas.
Perform routine janitorial duties as outlined in the Janitorial Weekly Checklist, including cleaning and sanitizing washrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, window cleaning, trash removal, and other general cleaning tasks.
Clean, strip, and wax floors as required to maintain the appearance and longevity of floor surfaces.
Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of cleaning and washroom supplies and communicate replenishment needs to the Office Administrator.
Identify and report maintenance, repair, safety, or facility concerns to the Office Administrator in a timely manner.
Complete light exterior cleaning and maintenance duties as outlined in the Janitorial Weekly Checklist.
Provide additional cleaning as required following special events, facility rentals, or periods of increased building use.
Follow established health and safety practices and maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the facility.
Working Conditions
This position is primarily performed indoors, with occasional outdoor duties.
The position requires moderate physical activity, including lifting, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
The employee must be able to safely handle cleaning products, supplies, and equipment.
Work Arrangement
This is a part-time, hourly position requiring approximately 5–7 hours per week, with occasional additional hours as needed following special events or facility rentals.
As a member of the church staff, the employee is expected to comply with all applicable church policies and procedures, including those contained in the Employee Handbook.
Pay Starts at $20.00/hour.
Hours work ed per week is between 5-7 hours.
