Our Mission

It’s All About Jesus…

“Making Jesus Known,” and what it means to us:

 We are all called to Make Jesus Known because it is only in His name that people can be saved… Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ ” John 14:6

“…because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— ” Ephesians 2:4–5

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

We Make Jesus Known because it is THE ONLY way for eternal life… “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life…” 1 John 5:12–13

 …so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. ” John 20:31

We Make Jesus Known because it is ONLY in the name of Jesus Christ that salvation comes…And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another…”   1 John 3:23–24

We Make Jesus Known because it is the only name to which all people will bow…so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…” Philippians 2:10–11

We Make  Jesus Known  because it is the best thing anyone could possibly do…Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…” Philippians 3:8

… It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me…” Galatians 2:20

We Make Jesus Known in everything we do… “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus…” Col. 3:1

God is a missional God and has called us to Make Jesus Known…For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”  Matthew 28:19–20

We have been sent on a mission to Make Jesus Known…As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.” John 17:18

” …and you will be my witnesses…” Acts 1:8

We engage our culture to  Make Jesus Known…“…I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some…” 1 Cor. 9:22

We Make Jesus Known because this truth is unchanging and must be proclaimed“Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. ” Jude 3

 “…preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching…” 2 Tim. 4:1–4

We are living here and now in Vanderhoof to Make Jesus Known…“…having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, ” Acts 17:26

We are called to be equipped to Make Jesus Known… “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry…” Ephesians 4:11–13

We are called to develop relationships with lost people so we can Make Jesus Known…  “In the same way, let your light shine before others…” Matthew 5:16

We are called to Make Jesus Known by be a loving community… “…And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. ” 1 John 4:19–21

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35

We are called to Make Jesus Known by the “living” of our lives. “…And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. ” Acts 4:13

Our Story

In the winter of 1983, eight families met and believed that God was calling them to plant another church in Vanderhoof. They believed God called for:

  • a celebration, with uplifting and encouraging worship;
  • positive, practical teaching from God’s word;
  • an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and hope;
  • quality ministries to and for the whole family;
  • a decision making process in which all believers have an opportunity to speak and be heard;
  • an opportunity to reach those who, over the years, have  either dropped out of church, or have never been interested in matters of faith.

From April 1983 until December 1989, NCC met at Evelyn Dickson Elementary School.  On December 3, 1989, we moved into our own building,  and in March of 1995 went to two Sunday morning services.  With the addition to our building completed in 2005, we have resumed meeting in one Sunday morning service.

Our Staff

Transitional Pastor

Ed Drewlo

It is my privilege and honour to serve the Nechako Community Church as its Pastor during this time of transition.  A Transition Pastor works with a church for up to a year or longer between resident pastors ending with a pastoral search for the church’s next pastor. I began this service here in October, 2016.  My home is in Prince George, where I served the Lakewood Alliance Church as its pastor for almost 20 years before beginning this itinerate kind of pastoral ministry in 2006.  Before serving in Prince George I pastored Alliance churches in North Battleford and Saskatoon.  My theological training was at Canadian Theological Seminary in Regina (now Ambrose University in Calgary) and then later at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago. I am married to Carolyn, a school teacher, and we are the very grateful parents of four married children and ten grand-children. Carolyn is from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.  From time to time she joins me as I serve in these transitional roles.

I like to see churches succeed in fulfilling their God-given calling to effectively help people become knowledgeable and enthusiastic followers of Jesus Christ. In addition to working with the Elders Board through transition, my usual pattern is to lead and preach in at least three consecutive Sunday Services each month followed by time in the office of the church through Wednesday of each of those weeks.  In my leisure time, I enjoy family-time, travel, study, and various forms of recreation.  For further information, please visit my web-site at

A Nursery is available for children ages 0 – 3 years.

Children’s Church

We have a dedicated ministry for children ages 3 and up.

We offer Children’s Church during the sermon portion of our Sunday morning Worship Service, approximately 10:00 – 10:45 am.

Please note that Children’s Church will not be offered during July and August.

Sunday School

Our Sunday School program runs mid-September through May at 11:00 on Sunday mornings, with classes for Pre-K through High School.  Classes for adults are offered, as well.

Caleb’s Kin

Caleb’s Kin is our ministry to older adults (55+).  We meet at noon on the last Monday of each month (September through May) to sing, pray, hear a devotional, and share a meal together.  For more information, please call or e-mail the church office.

Neighbour Link

Vanderhoof Neighbourlink is a ministry to the community, operated by volunteers from within the community. In addition to the Act II thrift store and other programs, a community luncheon is served every Wednesday afternoon—and this is where we get involved.  As a church, we provide the weekly lunch on a rotation with other churches in Vanderhoof.  If you’d like to know how you can be involved, call or e-mail the church office.
